  A communications plan for our district

Our school board is trying.  They have invited vendors to give presentations at board meetings for their proposals to improve district communications.  Such things cost money, of course.

In response, the editor of this website (John Painter, for the uninitiated) gave a less expensive proposal at the February 22 board meeting, titled: Marketing Best Practices for Readington Schools. The speaker notes and the complete action plan are available here.

Communications are but one component in the larger scheme of marketing.  Successful organizations, whether for-profit or not-for-profit, understand the necessity to evaluate internal and external stakeholders for their beliefs and their predispositions in order to build loyalty and long term relationships.  Successful organizations put in place the rigorous systems required to do this, and they consistently follow through with the analysis.  We can easily do the same.

Our school board is trying, but success will depend on more than a try.
